What does optimism and opportunity look like to you? For Black Americans in 1910, optimism looked like The Crisis magazine, the official publication of the NAACP that was created to uplift and reflect Black advancement. Join educators from the Lewis Latimer House at the Queens Botanical Garden as we celebrate the year of the Fire Horse by creating LEGO prints inspired by Louise Latimer’s cover designs for The Crisis magazine. 

Visitors of all ages will also enjoy a lion dance, tai chi, kung fu, face changing, folk dance, crafts, story time and much more!
