Ran Yan

  • For over a decade, Ran Yan has been dedicated to revitalizing the Lewis Latimer House. She started at LLH around 2014 giving bilingual tours about the Black inventor in English and Mandarin and studying this nuanced history. Ran is drawn to building communities through inclusive programs inspired by Latimer’s legacy. In the first three years of her tenure as ED, she more than doubled the museum's attendance and budget. She forms partnerships with stakeholders in Flushing, Queens, across New York City, and beyond. Ran studied architecture and preservation at Tongji University, and received an MA in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University. 

Adriana Burkins

  • Adriana Burkins is the Education Manager for the Lewis Latimer House where she oversees the museum's educational offerings. Adriana has worked in museum education for nearly ten years in various museums including the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City, where she also co-curated an exhibition. She received her MA in Art History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her BA at Meredith College. In her spare time, Adriana enjoys working with stained glass, ceramics, embroidery, and printmaking.

Edgie Amisial

  • As Lewis Latimer House’s Communications Manager, Edgie oversees the museum’s marketing across web, social, email, and print channels. Edgie received her MA in Art and Public Policy from New York University, and a BA from The New School. Edgie is also a visual artist and writer, and enjoys using her creativity to reach, engage and empower the Lewis Latimer House’s community.

Maria Wood

  • Maria Wood is a museum professional at the Lewis Latimer House, and she brings experience in public history, archives, and STEAM education. She holds an MA in Public History and an MS in Library and Information Science from St. John’s University. She began her museum career as a volunteer at a historic house in Rock Island, Illinois, and is excited to be back in one now. She is passionate about engaging visitors with the history and legacy of Lewis Latimer so they can explore how his work inspires innovative solutions to today’s challenges.
