A Taste of Home: Queens Memoirists on Food and Culture

  • Lewis Latimer House 34-41 137th Street Queens, NY, 11354 United States (map)

Queens, recognized as "the world’s borough," is the most diverse county in the U.S! A Taste of Home is a public reading event that celebrates this diversity and highlights the borough's racial and immigrant history through the perspective of its diverse residents.

The event, hosted by writing instructor Abeer Hoque, will feature readings from six talented memoir writers and alumni of our "Writing on Race and Immigration" Workshop Series: Erika Apupalo, Mijounga Chang, Esther Pang, Maya Reyes, Ana Reza, and Claudette Joy Spence.

Guests will also enjoy a live musical performance by Jazz Triangle 65-77: A New York–based jazz trio featuring Haruna Fukazawa on flute, Shu Odamura on guitar, and Aki Yamamoto on bass. All three members hail from Japan and share rich musical backgrounds in both jazz and classical music.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Join us for this special celebration of culture and community!
