Did you know that the Lewis Latimer House was originally located at 64 Holly Street (known as Holly Ave. today) in an area with more than ten streets named after trees and plants? Join educators from the Lewis Latimer House as we celebrate City of Forest Day and the importance of the trees that clean our air, reduce temperatures, and beautify our streets! We’ll create zines with comic artist and illustrator, Jesse Lambert, and experiment with pop-up techniques to add paper houses, leaves, and flowers to our booklets.
Participants will also receive a free copy of Jesse Lambert’s comic about the life and legacy of Lewis Latimer!
This event is made possible with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts.
