Celebrate Black Genius. Empower Tomorrow’s Innovators
The Lewis Latimer House stands as a beacon of creativity, and a place where Black history, innovation, and imagination are celebrated to empower future generations. Yet we are living in a time when Black voices are being silenced and histories erased. Cultural institutions like ours face deep funding cuts and students of color are losing access to educational experiences that nurture creativity, confidence, and pride.
Despite these growing challenges, in 2025, your generosity helped us reach over 4,000 students through STEAM programs and community partnerships.
In 2026, we will build on this momentum by:
Launching redesigned guided tours, led by trained educators who bring Latimer’s story to life for every guest.
Publishing the digitized Latimer Family Collections for public access and research.
Engaging contemporary Black innovators through new collaborations.
Expanding school partnerships, reaching thousands more students through 120 annual field trips and 25 offsite STEAM programs.
